John Dietz was born about 1854 in “Bohemia” and died about 1907. He married Mary Hildebrant, presumably prior to emigration, as his first son was born overseas. Mary was born 13 June 1852 in Austria and d. in 1932 in South Bend, St. Joseph, IN.
**NOTE: In various early records, the family name is seen both as Dietz and as Dyc; Dyc is believed to be the original spelling.
