SOUTH BEND - Jim Phillip Ieraci, 81, died Tuesday, 10 October 2017, at his home in Naples, FL, with friends and family at his side. He leaves his life's partner of 33 years, Jill Blankert; his son, Armin Ieraci; his daughter, Kathryn Ieraci; and two grandchildren, Kassady and Katelyn; his brother, Frank Ieraci; his sister, Rosemary Coomes; and many nephews, nieces, and close friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Clara Young, and brother-in-law, Richard Young. Born in Follansbee, West Virginia, the son of Joseph and Josephine Ieraci, he was a lifelong resident of South Bend. In his early years, Jim served in the Army in the armored division at Fort Bliss continuing in the Army Reserves. Jim spent the majority of his career in the insurance industry for over 35 years as an adjuster and subsequently running a successful State Farm agency in South Bend. Jim was an active member of the South Bend Elks Lodge #235, serving as the Exalted Ruler in 1992 and 1993, and subsequently the Chairman of the Trustees. Jim had a passion for acquiring properties and remodeling them; having renovated a number of properties in South Bend and in New Buffalo, MI, applying his personal craftsmanship. Jim loved to dance and celebrate life. Those who knew him will remember those times fondly. A visitation will be held Saturday morning, October 14th, from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road in South Bend, with a graveside service to follow immediately thereafter at Highland Cemetery.
