Marjorie A. Fisher, 94, residing in South Bend, went to God peacefully in her home Friday, January 14, 2022 surrounded by her family. She was born on October 4, 1927 in Mishawaka, IN to Leo H. Gerard and Antoinette (Krushanski) Gerard. On February 19, 1947 in Saint Monicas Church she was united in marriage to Robert R. Fisher who died April 6, 2008. She attended Saint Monica Grade School and Mishawaka High School and then worked at the Ball Band in Mishawaka. After marriage and while her children were young she was a homemaker and then worked at Gerard Pharmacy in South Bend, then for many years at the South Bend Medical Foundation and then opened a ceramic business in Edwardsburg, Michigan after moving to Eagle Lake. She is survived by her three children, Father Terry Fisher, pastor of the Cathedral of Saint Matthew in South Bend, Judy A. (Edward) Runnion-Fisher of Mishawaka, a retired school teacher, Craig A. (Lorraine) Fisher of South Bend, retired from Elkhart Products. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Margaret (John) Hoeft of John’s Island, South Carolina, Sarah Myers of Mishawaka, and Stephanie (Joe) Sproles of Mishawaka, four great grandchildren, J.J., Jake and Joseph Hoeft of South Carolina, and Madison Myers, a sophomore at Marian High School, her cousin and best friend Millie Osborne and her faithful companion Molly her White Whestie. Her parents and her brother James Gerard preceded her in death. Marge was a member of the Cathedral of Saint Matthew in South Bend for 50 years. She was an avid knitter and for years knitted for the Christ Child Society, for Hannah’s House and made hats and mittens for school children that were without in the winter. Special thanks to Heather and others from Hospice Care who took such special care of her the last week of her life. Do to COVID Marjorie requested that visitation would take place one hour before the celebration of the Mass of Christian burial at the church, from 10:00 a.m. until mass time. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 19 in the Cathedral of Saint Matthew, 1701 Miami St., South Bend. Graveside services and burial will follow at Saint Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. The family request in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Matthew Cathedral, Christ Child Society, or to Hannah’s House in Mishawaka.
