SOUTH BEND, IN - Rupert was born on September 10, 1929, in Attica, Indiana, to Oliver and Mae(Williams) Biddle. On May 21, 1949 Rupert married Patricia Dudeck. They started their marriage in South Bend, Indiana and began their family that included four boys (Kenneth, Chuck, Robert and Ronald) and two girls (Kathryn and Kathleen). His first full time job was selling shoes for JC Penney's. He quickly decided retail was not for him. He was very proud of testing and being accepted into the engineering program at Studebakers in South Bend. Thus began his 31-year career as an engineer in the automotive industry. In 1963 production moved to Canada. At that point, Chrysler snatched him up and this took the Biddle family to Detroit and eventually to St Louis. Rupert loved to take his family on vacations. They traveled to many destinations such as Mackinaw Island, Lake Michigan, Quebec, the Ozarks, and the Smoky Mountains. He especially enjoyed weekend road trips. Rupert had a passion for playing sports, especially bowling, softball and basketball. He even coached the Holy Family basketball team. He never missed watching Notre Dame football or St. Louis Cardinals baseball. Rupert was active in Knights of Columbus in South Bend. He enjoyed genealogy, and with his older sister Beulah compiled books on the Biddle, Williams, and Patnaude family history. Rupert was a comedian at heart and loved a good laugh and a good story. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Mae Biddle; wife, Patricia (Dudeck) Biddle; son, Kenneth Biddle; daughter, Kathleen Biddle; son-in-law, Reginal White; sisters, Beulah Patnaude, Louise Talbott, and Vera Cooper; and brothers, Ivan Biddle, Thurman Biddle, Louis Biddle, William Biddle, and Frankie Beedle.
