Frank J. Manijak, 83, of South Bend, passed away at 12:50 p.m. on Sunday, August 6, 2006, in Hospice House. Frank was born on April 2, 1923, in South Bend, to Michael and Agnes (Olszewski) Manijak. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Tom, Walter and Harry; and by three sisters, Sophie Kasznia, Phyllis Ellis and Mary Nowacki. On January 19, 1952, he married Theresa Rodino in South Bend. She survives along with two daughters, Pamela (Mark) Brzezinski of South Bend and Nancy Manijak of South Bend; two grandchildren, Michael Brzezinski of South Bend and David Brzezinski of Merrillville, Ind.; one great-grandson, Ryan Brzezinski of Freedom, N.Y.; one sister, Bernice (Bob) Niezgodski of South Bend; and by many brothers-in- law, sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. Frank retired from the South Bend Fire Department on April 1, 1988, after 40 1/2 years of service. He was a member of St. Adalbert Catholic Church, American Legion Post 357, VFW 9820, St. Joseph Young Men's Society and the West Side Democratic Club. Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 9, 2006, from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. MAYFLOWER RD., SOUTH BEND, where a Rosary will be prayed at 4:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 10, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Adalbert Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637; or to St. Adalbert Catholic Church, 2420 W. Huron St., South Bend, IN 46619.
