Elnora G. Leininger Mar. 16, 1922 - Oct. 23, 2014 MISHAWAKA - Elnora G. Leininger, 92, of Mishawaka, IN, passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at The Hearth at Juday Creek, in Granger, with her loving family at her bedside. Elnora was born on March 16, 1922 in South Bend, IN, to the late George and Clara (LaCluyze) LaFree. On June 21, 1947 Elnora married William Leininger in Lakeville, IN. Elnora and William were married for 65 years. William passed away on May 15, 2012. Elnora is survived by her 3 children, Mary Frances Jester, of Mishawaka, IN, Joan (Steven) Platz of Middlebury, IN and Edward (Linda) Leininger of Mishawaka, IN along with a sister Rosemary (Donald) Gilpin of South Bend, brother James (Marianne) LaFree of South Bend, step brother Roger (Dorothy) Mathia of South Bend, IN. Elnora is preceded in death by 3 sisters, 1 brother and a great granddaughter. Elnora was a loving and caring grandmother to 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren. The grandchildren enjoyed eating grandma's homemade rhubarb jam on toast, cut out sugar cookies, chocolate chip cookies and her well known cinnamon rolls. Elnora retired from the Indiana Employment Security Division as a Job Interviewing Associate, in 1982 after 33 ½ years of service. She was a member of the Indiana State Employees Association. She was a parishioner of the St. Pius X Catholic Church in Granger. Elnora was past member of the Women's Society at St. Pius. Monsignor William Schooler referred to Elnora as his "Evangelist", she would make sure that the residents at The Hearth at Juday Creek would attend mass that Monsignor Schooler would officiate at that facility. She was also known as the "Social Director" at The Hearth at Juday Creek. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 26, 2014 from 2:00pm until 5:00pm with a vigil at 4:00pm at the Bubb Funeral Chapel 3019 N. Main St., Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial with Monsignor William Schooler officiating will be held at 10:30am, with one hour visitation prior, on Monday, October 27, 2014 at the St. Pius X Catholic Church, 52553 Fir Rd., Granger. Burial to follow the mass at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's & Dementia Services of Northern Indiana, PO Box 4202 South Bend, IN 46634.
