DOWAGIAC - Charlotte Rak, 92, of Dowagiac, MI, passed away Saturday, March 11, 2017, at her daughter's home in Dowagiac. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A private burial will be held at a later date at Riverside Cemetery in Dowagiac. Arrangements have been entrusted to Clark Chapel & Cremation Services. Those wishing to sign Charlotte's Memory Book online may do so at www.clarkch.com. Charlotte was born August 29, 1924, in Dowagiac, to Ira and Sadie (Stahl) Lee. She graduated from Dowagiac Central High school in 1943. On April 18, 1945, she married Stanley Rak in Chicago, IL. Charlotte worked for several years at the former Rudy Manufacturing before going to work at Lee Memorial Hospital as a dietary aide. She retired after 25 years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dowagiac. Charlotte was a lifetime member of the DAV #33, Dowagiac Conservation Club, #1855 VFW Auxiliary, Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital Volunteers and a former member of the Dowagiac American Legion Auxiliary #563. Charlotte enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, knitting and crocheting. She also enjoyed collecting key chains and turtles. Charlotte is survived by her children, Louann Stemm of Dowagiac and James (Brenda) Rak of Troy, MI; three grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Bettie J. Sager of Niles; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Stanley; son, Daniel Rak; son-in-law, Stephen Stemm; siblings, Doris Wegner, Edd Jack Lee, Clare P. Lee, Earl P. Lee, Richard W. Lee, Lois A.
