SOUTH BEND - Roman R. Sikorski, 88, passed away at 10:24 am Thursday, November 29, 2012 in his residence. Roman was born August 11, 1924 in South Bend to the late John and Agnes (Sopczynski) Sikorski. On November 27, 1948 in South Bend, Roman married Virginia (Szlanfucht) Sikorski; she preceded him in death on November 16, 2002. Roman was also preceded in death by his sisters, Florence Cornell, Jo Ann Boudreau, Rita Sikorski, and Lucille Sikorski; and brothers, Theodore and Richard Sikorski; Survivors of Roman include his daughter, Theresa (Stan) Hembrecht of South Bend; grandchildren, Deanne Levendoski of South Bend and Bethany Levendoski of Chicago; a great-grandson, Kingston Levendoski; and sisters, Clara (Leonard) Niemier, Agnes (Claude) Mendell, Margaret Janiak, Annette (Ted) Noell, Joann (Glen) Boudreau, Lucille Sikorski, and Barbara Revell. Roman served his country in the United States Army and was a lifetime member of the Army & Navy Club and a member of the American Legion Post #357. He was a custodian and parishioner of St. Hedwig Catholic Church for many years, and retired from Memorial Hospital after 16 years of service. He enjoyed polka music, playing the concertina, and loved children, especially his grandchildren. Visitation for Roman will be 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, December 2, 2012 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., where a Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Monday, December 3, 2012 in St. Hedwig Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Real Services, 1151 S. Michigan Street, South Bend, IN 46601 or the St. Hedwig Building Fund, 309 South Taylor St., South Bend, IN 46601.
