SOUTH BEND - Stella T. Skubis, 87, passed away at 2:46 a.m. on Monday, July 25, 2011, in Memorial Hospital. Stella was born on April 30, 1924, in Southwick, MA, to the late John and Victoria (Harwood) Jemiolo. She was also preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters. She is survived by her husband, Frank Skubis of 67 years, their five children, Victoria (Robert) Hadrick of Crown Point, IN, Mary Ann Chamberlain of Mishawaka, IN, Frank (Lenna) Skubis, Jr. of Tucson, AZ, Stanley (Jean) Skubis of St. Charles, IL and Richard Skubis of Ft. Myers Beach, FL; twelve grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and by her sister, Carol Kowalczyk, Boston, MA. Stella was a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, traveling and cooking. One of her most noted accomplishments is that she was runner up in the Pillsbury Bake Off. Stella also worked at Pratt Whitney in Hartford, CT, during WW II. Above all, she was a loving and devoted wife, mother and Nana. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, July 28, 2011, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd, South Bend, IN, where a Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday, July 29, 2011, in Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation - Northern Indiana Branch, PO Box 8345, South Bend, IN 46600; or to the American Breast Cancer Foundation, 1220 B.
