Lillian L. (Guidi) Perry
July 23, 1922-May 30, 2013

Lillian Perry passed away peacefully Thursday evening, May 30th, surrounded by her family at St. Joseph Medical Center in Mishawaka. Born in Mishawaka to Julius and Louise Guidi on July 23, 1922, Lillian is survived by one brother, Bob (Diane) Guidi of Brainerd, Minnesota; sisters, Dorothy Guidi of Mishawaka, IN and Mary Jo Acrey (Chuck Murphy) of South Bend. She leaves behind 2 sons, Gordon 'Mik' Perry of South Bend, and Daniel (Sara) Perry of Mishawaka. She was an amazing grandmother to her 3 grandchildren, which include twin girls, Julia (Ross) Smith, and Jodie (Kenny) Russell, both of Granger, IN, and her grandson Spencer Perry (Brianna Hite) of Mishawaka. Lillian was very proud of her 4 great grandchildren, Connor and Madison Russell, and Keirstin and Brady Smith. Lillian was a beloved Aunt to many nieces and nephews. Lillian was preceded in death, by her husband of 60 years, Cecil Perry on March 22, 2008, her parents, sister-in-law, Katherine Guidi, and her nephew, Kim Guidi. A graduate in 1940 from Mishawaka High School, she went on to further her education by obtaining her Bachelors of Art degree from Bethel College in 1964, and earned her Master's Degree in Special Education from St. Mary's College in 1969. Lillian's teaching career in special education began at Studebaker School in South Bend. Lillian retired from teaching in 1987 from Greene Elementary School. Although she retired in 1987, Lillian continued to work in the library at Greene until it became a Middle School, then continued to volunteer in the library at Hay School. Affectionately known by many staff members as 'Tiger Lil', she could also call most children, past and present at Greene and Hay School, by name. It was often that Lillian would be out shopping or dining with friends only to have former students seek her out just to say 'Hi' and reminisce about the good times they shared together as her students. In appreciation of her continued volunteerism and dedication to the educational system in 1999 Lillian was nominated and became the first recipient of the Teachers Credit Union Michiana 55 Plus Volunteer Award. Lillian was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend. She prized her time most spent with her family and friends. She lived every single day to the fullest and was very active. She was a vibrant woman, witty, fun loving, full of spirit and feisty Italian attitude. She was a very humble woman who would give freely and whole heartedly of herself to serve others or anyone in need without the need for recognition or praise. Lillian also enjoyed her crossword puzzles, fishing, stamp collecting, playing cards and reading. Lillian also enjoyed entertaining students, family, and friends by playing the spoons, a gift taught to her by her Uncle Benito. Family and Friends may visit on Tuesday, June 4 from 12:00-3:00 p.m. and 5:00-8:00 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka.Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, June 5, at 10:00 AM in the funeral home with Rev.
