[N27689] Joann R. Fair
Jan. 23, 1936 - Feb. 12, 2021

NEW CARLISLE, IN - Joann R. Fair, 85, of New Carlisle, Indiana passed away on Friday, February 12, 2021 in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Joann was born on January 23, 1936 in New Carlisle to the late Stanley and Irene Jankowski (Tobolski). She was also preceded in death by her only brother, Joseph Jankowski. On June 22, 1957 she married Richard E. Fair who preceded her in death on June 9, 2009. Together they had one child, a daughter, Brenda (Jeff) Bucher of New Carlisle, Indiana. Over the years, Brenda and Jeff gave her five loving grandchildren whom she cherished more than anything: Jeffrey Bucher JR and his wife Goldie, Nicholas Bucher and his wife Laura, Heidi Elliott (Bucher) and her husband Nick, Jacob Bucher and his wife Andrea, and Zachary Bucher. Those grandchildren then gave her great-grandchildren to love: Hailey West, Jeffrey Bucher III, John Bucher, Mason Elliott, Ryan Bucher, Nolan Elliott, Emily Bucher, and Everly Elliott due to be born in April. Joann worked for many years for retail clerks in stores as a cashier at Wilts, K-mart Foods, Lou Ann's, and Krogers. She was a devoted member of Holy Family Church for many years. Joann loved spending her time with her daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. It was her passion to spoil them as much as possible and give them all the love they needed. Anytime they needed anything mom/grandma was always there ready to help. When she wasn't spending time with her loved ones, it was off to the casino. She always loved the time she spent there. If not there, she was watching QVC on TV, warm and cozy in her chair. She could tell you something about host or guest; she knew a lot about them. This amazing woman will be truly missed so much by her daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a one-of-a-kind person that God only made one of. When she left us, Heaven got an amazing angel who will be always looking down on us to make sure we are all ok and safe. She is truly our Guardian Angel. A visitation for Joann will be held on Sunday, February 21, 2021 in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Dr., South Bend, Indiana from 1:00 until 5:00 pm. A Rosary will be prayed at 2:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 22, 2021 at 10:00 am in Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Online condolences can be left at www.kaniewski.com.Published in South Bend Tribune from Feb. 19 to Feb. 20, 2021.
