Frances "Gayle" Takach

SOUTH BEND - Frances "Gayle" Takach, 71, of South Bend, passed away at 1:25 a.m. Tuesday in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka, following a long illness. She was born in Temple, Texas, to Paul and Willie (Murrell) Lessig, who both preceded her in death. As Frances Gayle Lessig, she married Stephen F. Takach Sr. in Temple, Texas, on July 25th, 1959. He died June 28th, 1994. She is survived by a son, Stephen F. (Cynthia) Takach of St. Charles, Illinois, and her daughter, Christine M. Takach of South Bend. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Ashley "Michael" Hoffman, Kaitlyn Takach, Emma Takach, Matthew Takach, Peter Takach, Madison Takach, Anna Takach and Eleanor Takach; and two great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Stephen. Gayle was a secretary until her retirement. She was a member of the Eagles Aerie #2083, Mishawaka, and The American Legion Auxilliary #303. She was also a graduate of Three Rivers High School, class of 1957. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday in St. Pius X Catholic Church, Granger. Friends will be received from 3 until 7 p.m. today in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 North Main Street, Mishawaka, and for one hour prior to the Mass at St. Pius on Friday. Burial will follow the Mass at Sacred Heart Cemetery, South Bend. The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care or to the National Kidney Foundation. Published in South Bend Tribune on August 12, 2010
