[N16225] Wayne Schalliol
Aug. 17, 1930 - Feb. 20, 2017

MISHAWAKA - Wayne LaMarr Schalliol, 86, of Mishawaka, Indiana died Monday, February 20, 2017 in South Bend, Indiana. Wayne was born on August 17, 1930 in Mishawaka, Indiana, the third of three boys, to Maude (Trisinger) and Victor Schalliol of Wakarusa, Indiana. Wayne's two brothers, Carl and Earl, are also deceased. Wayne is survived by his wife, Barbara (Streeter) Schalliol, whom he married in 1965, daughter Laurie (Schalliol) Balla, son-in-law Dan Balla of Mishawaka and daughter Julie Schalliol of Mishawaka. Wayne graduated in 1948 from Madison High School in Wakarusa, Indiana where he played trumpet in the band. He loved the outdoors and began working on his family's grain and beef cattle farm in Mishawaka at age 9. He raised crops and beef cattle until the 1965 Palm Sunday tornado leveled the farm, after which he sold his cattle. He rebuilt on the same property and continued to raise corn, soybeans and wheat until he retired at age 70. He also ran a local appliance business with his brother, Carl. One of Wayne's great loves was his fishing trips to the northern Great Lake states and Canada, or just around the corner to his niece's pond. Wayne was a sensitive, caring and tender father, a loving husband, a loyal brother and uncle, a trusted friend, an honest businessman, and a valued neighbor in the community. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret-Lienhart Funeral Home, 117 W. Waterford St. Wakarusa, Indiana 46573. A funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 24, 2017 also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be given to American Heart Association .
