ELKHART - Michael J. "Mike" Serafino, 64, of Elkhart, passed away after his fierce and courageous battle with cancer on Friday, May 21, 2021, where he was surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born on Nov. 13, 1956, in Elkhart, Indiana, to the late Joseph C. Serafino and Lila L. (Patanelli) Serafino, who survives him. Mike is also survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Theresa Serafino; son, John (Haley Hoerle) Serafino; daughter, Liza (Lucas Franz) Serafino; sisters, Cynthia Amos, Claudia (Bob) Mornar; and sister-in-law, Elizabeth (Chuck) Hartzell; great-aunt, Dolores Patanelli; nieces, Rachael (Larry) Hooley and Hannah Hartzell; nephew, Cullen (Danelle) Nance; and a host of cousins.In accordance with Mike's wishes, cremation was chosen and will take place at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., and Altera Cremation Services in Elkhart. A celebration of life gathering for family and friends will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 5, at Billings Funeral Home. At the family's request, please follow proper social distancing procedures and face masks are required and must be worn at all times. Memorial donations may go to International Myeloma Foundation, 12650 Riverside Drive, Suite 206, North Hollywood, CA 91607. Mike deeply loved his family and was especially proud of his children's accomplishments. He was an avid collector, sports fan (Go Sox!), and all-around handyman throughout his life, which also included 27 years of service with the U.S. Post Office. Mike loved playing softball with his friends and was a natural golfer. The family would like to thank Drs.
