Edward Warapius Sr, 86, residing in South Bend, passed away at 3:45 pm Thursday, August 18, 2011 in his home. Ed was born on February 11, 1925 in Chicago, IL and came to the South Bend area from Michigan in 1980. He served in the US Navy, loved farming, and was a retired tuckpointer. On July 2, 1983 in South Bend, Ed married his wife and best friend Ceilia (Coons) Warapius, who survives him. Ed is also survived by his sister, Mary Sherlock (Lee), and brother, Arthur Warapius (Betty), both of Tucson, AZ; children, Michael Warapius (Wendy) of IL, Paula Hemminger of Niles, MI, Ed Warapius, Jr, of CA, Lori Glover (Doug) of NC and David Warapius (Mary) of MO; stepchildren, Mary Popovich Krause (Eric) and Michael Popovich, both of South Bend; and grandchildren Kim Sivia, Ken (Jessica) Sivia, Crystal Sivia, and Nicole Krause as well as step grandchildren, Lauren and Rachel Popovich. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, John and Frances (Golden) Warapius; two daughters, Marge Martin and Suzanne Warapius; and two brothers, Tom Warapius and John Warapius, Jr. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 26, 2011 in Little Flower Catholic Church, 54191 N. Ironwood Road, South Bend, IN, where friends may visit for one hour prior to mass. All friends and family are invited to attend a luncheon at Little Flower following services. Ed was a lifelong Christian who gave many hours to delivering Meals on Wheels and supported other ministries through his dedication to tithing, daily prayer and helping hands. In lieu of flowers, he would be pleased by donations in his memory to the Food Pantry at Little Flower Catholic Church.
