Julius (Bykowski) Smith 91 of 508 So. Kentucky died at 1:30 pm Wednesday in the Terry King Nursing Home after a long illness.He retired as a foreman in 1947 after 50 years with Studebaker Corporation. He was born December 28, 1869 in Poland and spent the last 55 years in this area. He is survived by a sister Mary Topper, a nephew Julius Zielinski, with whom he resided and a grandson, three great grandchildren and a Great Great Grandchild all of South Bend. Services will be at 9 am Friday in St. Patricks Catholic Church, Rev George T Meager CSC Pastor will officiate. Burial will be at St Josephs Polish Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Richard & Frank Zielinski, Frank & Donald Jasinski, Edward Kmita and Walter Rutkowski. Friends may call after 3 pm at the St Joseph Funeral Home Chapel. He was a member of Studebaker Local 5 UAW
