[N25232] Dorathea Mae (Zgodzinski) Felder
June 15, 1927 ~ August 10, 2020 (age 93)

Dorathea Mae Felder, 93, of South Bend passed away at 10:28 p.m. Monday, August 10th in Hospice House of South Bend. Mrs. Felder was born June 15, 1927 in South Bend to the late Josephine (VanHoelsbeke) and Leo Zgodzinski and was a lifetime area resident. On April 12, 1952 in South Bend as Dorathea Mae Zgodzinski she married James C. Felder who preceded her in death June 23, 2007. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Betty Jane Durkin and a brother, Francis Zgodzinski. She is survived by three daughters, JoLynn Scopelitis (Michael), Doreen R. Sculati (Michael), and Janine D. Felder-Kahn (Matthew) all of South Bend; four grandchildren, Sara Sculati, James Sculati, Lillian Kahn and Ellen Scopelitis Knight (Jason); and three great-grandchildren, Vicoria Sculati, Soren Sculati, and Amelia Knight. Dorathea was a loving daughter, wife and mother who cherished all of those that she loved and her love was unconditional. She had an enormous capacity for forgiveness and compassion to see the goodness within all those that she loved. After the loss of her husband to cancer in 2007, she carried with her an insurmountable grief, but she still did all she could to enjoy the time with family and friends and show her presence and gratitude with her sweet smile and loving gazes. As she aged, she did not spend a lot of time talking, but her love and tenderness were deep and abiding. Just the touch of her hand or the look in her eyes could make the world seem like a brighter and more gentle place. She always used all of her strength to express her endless as enduring love and devotion. There will be no visitation or services at this time. Cremation will take place. Palmer Family Funeral Home - Welsheimer North Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Family and friends may leave email condolences at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
