SOUTH BEND - Elinor Andrzejewski, 89, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away Monday, September 13, 2010, at Providence House in South Bend. Elinor was born on November 13, 1920, in South Bend, Indiana, to Daniel and Anna (Kruch) DeVreese. She retired in 1981 as an executive secretary with the former Bendix Corporation. On June 26, 1948, Elinor married Alex Andrzejewski, who preceded her in death in October 1982. Surviving are her daughter, Melanie (Tim) Brassell of Osceola, Indiana; grandchildren, Jay (Heather) Brassell, Kathleen (Edmund) Niziolek, Patrick (Lisa) Andrzejewski and John Andrzejewski; and great-grandchildren, Troy, Dianna, Jayson, Timothy, Emily, Kassidy and Andrew. A stepson, Jack Andrzejewski, two grandsons, Dennis and Mark Andrzejewski, a sister, Margaret Hartz, and a brother, Daniel DeVreese Jr., all preceded her in death. Elinor was the first president of the Bendix Salaried Women's Club, a member of the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, the Forever Learning Institute where she had served as a board member, the Golden Cluster of St. Hedwig and the Sweet Adelines. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010, in Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 4508 Vistula Road, Mishawaka, Indiana, where friends may call one hour prior to the Mass.
