SOUTH BEND - William E. Allen, 71, passed away at 9:00 pm on Thursday, March 8, 2012, in the Ironwood Health and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by his family. William was born May 24, 1940, in South Bend, to Casimir and Mary Rita (Creighton) Zakrowski. William was preceded in death by his father, Casimer Zakrowski; two brothers, Robert Meyers and Anthony Zakrowski; and sister, Rita Szewczyk. William is survived by his mother, Mary Rita Zakrowski of South Bend; two daughters, Linda (Terence) Carey of South Bend and Judith (Mark) Webb of Deer Creek, IL; son, Robert Allen; grandchildren, Lindsay, Derek, Drew, Allison and Jaden; two great-grandchildren, Leiya and Trenton; two sisters, Mary Jo (Robert) Baker of North Liberty and Debra (Vince) Poczik of South Bend; and a brother, James (Julie) Zakrowski of Granger. William retired as a Branch Manager for Indiana Insurance Company, Peoria, Illinois. He loved to play the drums, wood carving, leather tooling, gun collecting, and he was an award-winning trap shooter and pool player. There will be a private memorial service at a later date. ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, is assisting the family.
