SOUTH BEND - Mary Rita Zakrowski, 92, formerly of Harris Street, passed away at 7:30 pm Wednesday, July 11, 2012, in the Michiana Rehabilitation Center. Mary was born January 30, 1920, in Chicago, IL, to the late John and Audrey (Norris) Creighton. Mary married Casimir J. Zakrowski, who preceded her in death in August 1969. Mary was also preceded in death by children, Rita Szewczyk, Anthony C. Zakrowski, William Allen and Robert D. Myers; and twelve brothers and sisters. Mary is survived by daughters, Debra (Vince) Poczik of South Bend, Mary Jo (Robert) Baker of North Liberty; son, James (Julie) Zakrowski of Granger; daughter in-law, Mary Myers of Mishawaka; 20 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Mary was a parishioner of St. Casimir Catholic Church. She was employed and retired from South Bend Toy after 35 years of service; she then went onto work at Jo's Deli in South Bend as manager. She was a member of the Moose Lodge, loved sailing, traveling, sewing, and most of all loved babysitting for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, July 15, 2012, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 1:00 pm Monday, July 16, 2012, in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Logan Industries, 2505 E.
