U.S. Veteran Herman Pelley, 76, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday. He died of natural causes at 2:35 PM Saturday at his home in Niles, MI. He was born October 16, 1935, in Filts Town, OK. Mr. Pelley was a lifetime Niles area resident. He was a member of Buchanan Christian Church and the Moose Lodge. He was an honorably discharged Army veteran and an avid Notre Dame fan. He loved bowling and golfing, and followed Buchanan sports. He was a friend to all and knew no stranger. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed. On July 18, 1958, in Buchanan, he married Nancy (Lozicki) Pelley, who survives. He is also survived by daughters, Tracy (Rick) Young & Ronni (Steve) Redman, both of Niles; brothers, Donald Wayne of Buchanan, and Robert, Wendall, Leonard & Chester Pelley of Florida; sisters, Florine (Ed) Truhn of Niles & Violet Dew of LaPorte; grandchild, Ashlynn Young; and beloved dog, Mika. He was preceded in death by parents, Della Lorine (Noland) & Clyde Pelley; brother, Charles Pelley; and sister, Floy Bischoff. Services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, May 23, at Buchanan Christian Church, with Pastor Sean Kidd officiating. Burial will take place at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Buchanan. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Tuesday, May 22, at Hoven Funeral Home in Buchanan. Memorials may go to Hospice at Home, 4017 Chamberlain Road, Buchanan, MI; and to Buchanan Christian Church, 112 West Third St., Buchanan, MI.
