Theresa C. Kopala , 90, of Edgewater, FL, formerly Olive Branch, MS, and South Bend, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 6, in Bert-Fish Medical Center, New Smyrna Beach, FL.
Theresa was born on Aug. 16, 1915, in Chicago, IL, to Richard and Augusta (Woods) Gumprecht. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Ronald Kopala ; a daughter, Christine Farrow; a sister, Augusta Gumtzman; and two brothers, Richard and Rudolph Gumprecht. On Aug. 20, 1933, in Chicago, IL, as the former Theresa Gumprecht, she married Walter Kopala , who preceded her in death on Sept. 30, 1992. Surviving Theresa are her two daughters, Carole (Jerome) Kulesia of Edgewater, FL, and Delores (Ronald) Farkas of Punta Gorda, FL; a son, Walt (Lisa) Kopala of Corona, CA; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was a former member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in South Bend and St. Bavo Catholic Church, Mishawaka. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Family and friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 12, in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, with wake prayers at 3:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 13, in St. Bavo Catholic Church, Mishawaka, with Rev. Barry England officiating. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Published in the South Bend Tribune; Dec. 11, 2005.
