NEW CARLISLE - Lawrence A. “Skip” Parmley, 82, of New Carlisle, Indiana, passed away at 7:33 a.m. Thursday, June 23, 2016, in Memorial Hospital. Skip was born on August 12, 1933, in South Bend, Indiana, to the late Lorin and Eliza (Ullery) Parmley. On September 9, 1995, Skip married Roseanne Faltynski, who survives. Skip is survived by one daughter, Beth (Ed) Johnson of Nashville, Tennesse; one son, Larry (Victoria) Parmley of Hudson Lake, Indiana; four grandchildren, Melissa Dixon, Michael Russell, Carrie Hall, and Roxanne Pavlack; and nine great-grandchildren. Skip was preceded in death by two sisters, Ana Mae Parmley and Lorraine Herbruck. Skip retired from Conrail (New York Central Railroad) in 1994. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and served as the Commander of the American Legion Post 297 in New Carlisle for 5 years. Skip served as a First Reponder for many years and was a Reserve Police Officer in LaPorte County for 27 years. He was a dedicated and caring husband and father and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He was loved by so many in the New Carlisle community. Visitation will take place on Monday, June 27, at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 201 S. Filbert Street, New Carlisle, from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. EST. A funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Burial will follow at New Carlisle Cemetery, where members of the American Legion Post #297 will conduct Military Services.
