SOUTH BEND - Francis "Frank" Laskowski, 83, passed away peacefully June 26, 2012 surrounded by his family. Born December 22, 1928, he was the son of the late Frank and Marie (Michalski) Laskowski. On November 19, 1955, Frank married Marie Ann DiFede. She preceded him in death January 25, 1999. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Bernadine Jankowski on June 26, 1987 and Harriet Czopek on December 6, 2008. Left to cherish his memory are four sons, Steven (Verna) of Granger, Thomas and Kenneth (Paula) both of South Bend and Anthony (Peggy) Laskowski of Mishawaka; two daughters, Marylou (Mark) Regina of Mishawaka and Elizabeth (Mike) Hayes of Vero Beach, FL.; one brother, Donald Laskowski of South Bend; two sisters, Rose Mary Carroll of South Bend and Leona Lebiedzinski of Osceola; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Frank was a proud Army veteran. He had a strong love for his family and for his Lord. He was a long time member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, South Bend, where he served many years as an usher. He was also an usher in Medjugorje for many years. He was a lifelong Notre Dame football and Cubs baseball fan. He worked for over 22 years at Drewrys. He later worked at South Bend Lathe, and then at the University of Notre Dame, from which he retired after 13 years. Friends may call from 4-7 PM on Thursday at the McGann Hay, University Chapel, 2313 E. Edison Rd., South Bend, where the Rosary will be prayed at 4 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday at 10 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, South Bend. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
