SOUTH BEND - Edmund A. Gapinski, 94, passed away peacefully at 10:45 a.m. in West Bend Nursing Home, Saturday, December 24, 2011. Edmund was born September 17, 2011 in South Bend, IN to late John and Kazimiera (Milewski) Gapinski. On October 24, 1951 he married Helen (Nowicki) she preceded him in death in August of 2000. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Casimir, Walter, John and Al Gapinski. He is survived by a daughter, Teresa Davis of South Bend; son, Michael Gapinski of Chicago, Il; two granddaughters, Esther and Hannah Davis; and by several nieces and nephews. Edmund retired as a custodian from the South Bend School Corporation. He honorably served in United States Army and was a member of the American Legion #357. Edmund was a parishioner of St. Casimir Catholic Church. He enjoyed walking. Visitation will be from 2:00pm to 6:00pm on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 in the St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. The rosary will be prayed at 4:00pm. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 1:00pm on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 in the Funeral Home. Entombment will follow in Resurrection Garden, St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Casimir Catholic, 1308 W. Dunham St., South Bend, IN. 46619.
