Mishawaka - Delores M. Harvey, 90, residing in Mishawaka, Indiana, passed away Monday, October 4, 2021 at Raclin House, Center for Hospice Care, Mishawaka. Delores was born on May 5, 1931, in South Bend to James M. Rupert and Lillian E. (Pashe) Rupert. She was united in marriage to Lowell "Wayne" Harvey on October 27, 1950. Delores worked at Smith's Cafeteria in the late 1940s before she married and started a family. In the 1960s she began a career as the head cashier for Goldblatt's department store and continued work in the main offices at L.S. Ayres and Macy's. Delores was sharp-witted, quick with both a kind word or a sarcastic remark. She was the family photographer and amassed an archive dating back to the 1940s. She was an adept seamstress and creative in her projects, altering patterns to better suit personal tastes or using vintage material to make everything from pillows and quilts, to flute pouches and frog bean bag toys. No matter how busy she was, she always took time for a full conversation with friends and family. If Delores had a message to leave with everyone, it would be one word: "empathy", the ability to understand and share the feelings of another. She would like everyone to move forward with that in mind. Delores is survived by her children; Debbie (Bam Saccoccio) Harvey of Itri, Italy, Kristina "Tina" Harvey of Mishawaka, and David (Julie) Harvey of Granger; her brothers, Robert Rupert of Canyon County, California, and Terry (Carol) Rupert of South Bend; her sister, Janet (Richard) Adams of Lake Havasu, Arizona; her grandchildren, Patrick Ransberger, Michele Costantino, Leonard Ransberger, and Samantha Harvey; and one great-granddaughter, Destiny Ransberger. Delores was preceded in death by her parents, James M. Rupert and Lillian E. (Pashe) Rupert; her husband, Lowell "Wayne" Harvey; her brothers, George Rupert, Walter Rupert; Larry Rupert, Tom Rupert, and Bill Rupert, and her sister-in-law, Norma Humphrey. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday October 12, 2021 at Palmer Funeral Homes - River Park Chapel, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend, IN 46615 with visitation one hour prior. Friends may gather with the family from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 11, 2021 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to River Bend Cancer, 3516 E.
