SOUTH BEND - Nicholas George Marozsan, 85, passed away in his home at 4:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2016. Nick was born on December 18, 1930, in South Bend, IN, to John and Mary Marozsan. He grew up in South Bend and graduated from South Bend Central Catholic High School. On May 28, 1955, in the Basicilca of Notre Dame, he married his wife of sixty-one years, DoLores Abraham, who survives. Nick is survived by his daughter, Marie (Jim) Douglas; son, David (Debbie) Marozsan; two granddaughters, Mariah (George III) Cressy and Makaela Douglas; brother-in-law, Gary Weese; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other family members. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph (Geraldine), John (Donna) and Stephen (Adeline), all of South Bend, and an infant brother. Nick was a member of the South Bend Central Catholic High School basketball team. After graduating, he served his county during the Korean Conflict in the United States Navy. Upon returning, he sold shoes in the Sears Shoe Department before joining the South Bend Fire Department, where he served the city for thirty-three years. In December 1973, he founded NGM Enterprises, and ran a successful business for thirty years. He installed draperies for the Sears Custom Drapery Department, as well as most of the designers and furniture stores in the area. He was a member of the local Hungarian Club. Nick was a Eucharist Minister of St. Matthew Cathedral parish, attending Mass daily and volunteered to serve at various nursing homes over the years where he was affectionately known at “Singing Nick.” A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Nicholas Monday, August 15, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at the Cathedral at St. Matthew, 1701 Miami Street, South Bend. Graveside services and burial will follow at Highland Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday at Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend, IN, where a Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in memory of Nicholas may be offered to Lewy Body Dementia Association, Inc, 912 Killian Hill Road, S.W., Lilburn, GA 30047.
