Richard Colburn
June 27, 1959 - May 3, 2014
MISHAWAKA - Rich was born on June 27, 1959, in South Bend, IN, to Harold and Geraldine (Brown) Colburn, who survive. Rich was married to Katherine Dudeck on April 29, 1978, and divorced ten years later. Surviving Rich Sr. are his children: Rich (Patty) Colburn Jr. of South Bend, IN, Shannon (John Dale) Blocher of Granger, IN, and Jerry (Tammy) Colburn of Mishawka, IN, and his 5 grandchildren. Also surviving are his siblings, Christine (James) Wichlacz of South Bend, IN, James (Theresa) Colburn of Mishawaka, IN, Marge (Bobby) Lance of Florida, Harold (Vicki) Colburn Jr. of Mishawaka, IN, and Arthur (Donna) Colburn of Mishawaka, IN. Son, Dad, Grandpa and Uncle, Rich played a major role in many people's lives. He helped anyone who needed it no matter what it was or when it was. He loved hunting, fishing, and enjoyed the outdoors life camping with his kids when they were younger, then having his own camping post in the woods at home. Fond memories of Rich include riding bicycles to Krugler's Beach in Michigan with his kids, then on bicycles getting them all back to the baseball park because one of them would have a game. His love of being at the baseball park continued when the grandchildren started playing, not able to be out there working with the kids but at least being at the ballpark rooting and congratulating the play that was just made. His heart was full of laughter, his body full of pain. His passing is a godsend as he is no longer in chronic pain; he will forever be in our hearts and our memories. In his youth, he worked at AM General as a linesman; after getting laid-off there, he would work whenever and wherever until the back injury started what would seem to be a duration of one type of major pain to another. This continued until Saturday, May 3rd, when God took him and stopped all the pain. Visitation for Rich will be held today, May 7, 2014, from 6-8 pm in Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka, IN. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2014, at 2 pm, with visitation 1 hour prior in the funeral. Cremation will follow.
