Thomas "T.C." Kazmierczak
June 22, 1939 - Jan. 13, 2013 SOUTH BEND - Thomas "T.C." Kazmierczak, 73, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away in his home at 1:45 p.m. Sunday, January 13, 2013, following an illness. Tom was born on June 22, 1939, to the late Peter and Helen (Ambroziak) Kazmierczak in South Bend, Indiana, and was a lifelong resident. Along with his parents, one brother, Paul Kazmierczak, also preceded him in death. Tom graduated in 1957 from Washington High School where he was a member of their football team. T.C. retired on Sept. 19, 1989, from the South Bend Police Department, where he served as a Police Officer for 28 years. He then worked as a Police Officer for the University of Notre Dame for 15 years before retiring on September 30, 2004. On September 29, 1962, he married Marlene M. Nemeth at St. Stephen Catholic Church in South Bend, Indiana. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Marlene M. Kazmierczak of South Bend, Indiana; two daughters, Debra (John Prikosovich) Kaser of South Bend, Indiana, Cheryl (Darrell) Crum of Lubbock, Texas; two sons, Kevin "K.J." (Carla) Kazmierczak of South Bend, Indiana, Douglas (Sandra) Kazmierczak of South Bend, Indiana; 11 grandchildren, Garrett and Zachary Kaser, Jacob, Jordan and Jared Kazmierczak, Derek, Kelsey, Dylan and Madison Crum, Domnik and Makenzzie Kazmierczak; and two sisters, MaryAnn Lipinski of South Bend, Indiana, and Alice (Mike) Boulanger of Cassopolis, Michigan. Coach Kaz was a longtime football coach at Holy Family and St. Joseph High School, and also coached Intramural Football for Fisher Hall at the University of Notre Dame. Tom enjoyed traveling with his wife and longtime friends and travel companions, Fred and Judy Odusch. Tom was a member of Holy Family Parish, F.O.P. Lodge # 36 in South Bend, and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Thursday, January 17, 2013, at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN, where a parish Rosary will be prayed 4:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 18, 2013, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 56405 Mayflower Road, South Bend, IN, with Rev. Charles Herman officiating. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
