SOUTH BEND - Christopher B. Samp, 51, passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2009, at 9:04 a.m. in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Christopher was born on August 23, 1957, in South Bend, to John J. and Joann (Carpenter) Samp. He was preceded in death by his father. Surviving Christopher are his mother, Joann Samp; a sister, Susan (Amon) Loy of South Bend; brother, Mike Samp of Mishawaka; nieces, Natalie Loy, Sara and Rebecca Samp; and a nephew, Steven Samp. Christopher had lived in the South Bend area all his life. He was a driver in the trucking industry. He loved not only working on his vehicles but driving them as well. Christopher loved to cook. He was a member of the Sons of American Legion #357. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2nd, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend, where a Rosary will be prayed at 5 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3rd, in St. Hedwig Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. Visitation will also be from 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday in the funeral home prior to the Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 601 W. Edison Road, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
