ROLLING PRAIRIE - Alvie Frank Ellenwine, 74, of Rolling Prairie, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Alvie was born in La Porte, IN, on August 28, 1940 to Alvie Frank and Julia (Przybylski) Ellenwine. Alvie is survived by his loving wife, Rita Ann (Adkins) Ellenwine. Also surviving are his beloved children, Marla (Rob) Shail of La Porte, Shari (Rich) Szilagyi-Parry of Hudson Lake, IN, Alvie (Kristin) Ellenwine of La Porte and Tamra (Gregory D. Ault) Ellenwine of La Porte; grandchildren, Seth, Noah, Alvie A. (Sarah), Bronson, Drake, Elin and Eric; sisters, Margaret Wade of La Porte, Gertrude Koth of Three Oaks, MI and Geraldine DePoy of Rolling Prairie; and many extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Dustin Ellenwine; and sisters, Cecelia Miller, and RoseMarie Schrieber. Alvie aka "Uncle Jr." never knew a stranger, he was the life of every party! He loved his family, bowling, and all the fun life brought. Alvie was a caring, strong man of faith, always hardworking, humorous, and never left you with a dull moment. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him. A cremation committal has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3 PM (Eastern) on Friday, July 31, 2015 at St. Mary of The Assumption Catholic Church, 28 W. Ash St., Three Oaks, MI 49128. A time of visitation with the family will take place from 1 PM (Eastern) until the time of the Mass at the church. Burial will take place following the service at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Three Oaks, MI.
