He was born on November 10, 1954, in La Porte, IN, to Stanley and Pauline (Mrozinski) Kukla. John was a member of the Door Village United Methodist Church; past president and member of the Indiana Health Care Association; and current member of the La Porte Yacht Club. He earned a Bachelor Degree in Accounting from Purdue. John was in long-term healthcare for 40 years. During his career, he inspired residents, colleagues and healthcare professionals. He was a mentor to all he worked with, but his greatest accomplishment was mentoring his family. John enjoyed golfing, fishing, and annual RVing trips with the family. He especially enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren. On May 25, 1974, in La Porte, IN, he married the love of his life Mary Kay (Marks) Kukla, who survives. They made so many wonderful memories; glass blowing and cooking classes, boating and several other great adventures. Also surviving are his three children, Nathan (Natalie) Kukla of Louisville, Kentucky, Johnna (Jackson) Bromley of Charlottesville, Virginia, and Brandon (Wendy) Kukla of Suwanee, Georgia; four siblings, Debbie (David) Orszulak, Chris (Pam) Kukla, Andrea (Jim) Fabrowicz, Stanley (Tammy) Kukla all of La Porte; seven grandchildren, Sophia, Elise, Oliver, Emma, Norah Grace, Braxton, and Marley; and mother-in-law, Phyllis Marks of Michigan City. Preceding him in death were his parents. A celebration of John's life will be held from 3 to 7 p.m., Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Pottawattomie Country Club, 1900 Springland Ave. Michigan City, IN 46360.
