Paul K. Wach, 88, of Hampstead Court, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 26, in Pacific Regent Rehab Center, San Diego, Calif. Mr. Wach retired in 1972 from Bendix where he was employed for 40 years. He was born on April 16, 1911 in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. On Nov. 18, 1933 in South Bend he married Marie C. Andert, she died on April 7, 1978. On Feb. 16, 1980 he married Ann Gruber, she died on Aug. 4, 1999. Paul was also preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters and a stepson, Robert Gruber. Surviving are two daughters, Marlene (Gerald) Vogel of South Bend and Linda Sexton of San Diego; two stepsons, John (Nancy) Gruber and James (Jackie) Gruber, both of South Bend; a stepdaughter-in-law, Cathy Gruber; six grandchildren, Phyllis Campanaro, Laurie Vogel, Karl Vogel, Christopher Sexton, Patrick Sexton, and Shannon Sexton; 13 step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, Emily Campanaro, Amanda Campanaro, and Samantha Campanaro; 16 step-great-grandchildren, and by a niece, Ilona Balke of Germany. Paul was a member of the D.F.V. German Club and the De Amici Club. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 20 in the Cathedral of St. Matthew. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Ave., where a Rosary will be recited at 2:30 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County.
