Darrell R. Zellers Aug. 15, 1926 - Oct. 17, 2014 MISHAWAKA - Darrell R. Zellers, 88, passed away on Friday, October 17, 2014 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka. Darrell was born on August 15, 1926 in Mishawaka to Harold and Leontine (Andenaert) Zellers. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Norma Bryant. On July 22, 1950 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka he married the former Virginia Gizzi. Surviving are his loving wife of 64 years, Virginia; three sons, John R. Zellers of South Bend, Alan L. Zellers and Dr. James H. Zellers both of Atlanta, GA; five grandchildren, Angela Zellers, Rebecca Zellers, Andrew (Lauren) Zellers, Eric Zellers and Dr. Brian Zellers; nieces and nephews, Barbara Barth, Donn Dunlap, Beth Ann (Keith) Fulks and Timothy (Peggy) Gizzi and a brother-in-law, Deacon Emilio (Linda) Gizzi. Darrell was a Machinist for Bendix for 41 years before he retired in January 1989. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka and the Bendix Retirees Club. Darrell enjoyed bowling and traveling. He built his home and took great pride in that fact; he loved being a handy man and fixing things for himself and many other people. Darrell was a veteran of the United States Navy where he served in the Pacific Theater. He was a Boy Scout leader at St. Joseph School, Mishawaka, a member of Chippewa Bowling Club, a 1947 Mishawaka High School graduate and was a member of UAW Local 9, South Bend. Visitation for Darrell will be on Monday, October 20 from 4 to 7 p.m. with a Rosary at 6 p.m., in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, October 21 at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka with Rev. Barry England officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery Mishawaka, with Military Rites by VFW Post 360/American Legion 161 Burial Squad. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 225 S.
