Candace D. Mell, 84, of New Carlisle, passed away on Wednesday August 23, 2017 at Memorial Hospital, South Bend. She was born on November 21, 1932, in Granger, IN, to the late Chalmer Earl and Mabel (Freel) Hagedorn. On January 21, 1952, as Candace Hagedorn, she married Jack E. Mell, who survives. Also surviving are her three children, Debora Higgins and Denise Kujawski, both of New Carlisle and Jack (Kim) Mell of Granger; three grandchildren, Kayla, Jessica and Tony three great-grandchildren; and a sister. Mrs. Mell worked at Uniroyal/RACO for 40 years, before retiring in January 1995. She enjoyed working at the Diner with family for fun.
