MISHAWAKA - Robert S. Galvas, 87, passed away Friday, Dec. 6, 2013 in Hospice House. Bob was born June 15, 1926 in South Bend to the late William and Hattie (Szynski) Galvas. Bob married Dolores (Wujcik) Galvas, she preceded him in death; and then married Theresa (Wasielewski) Galvas, she also preceded him in death. Bob is also preceded in death by a brother, Conrad Galvas, and sister, Geraldine Jakubowicz. Survivors of Bob include his children, Kathy (Bernie) Nemeth of South Bend, Richard (Bev Hurt) Galvas of North Liberty, Nick (Debbie) Galvas of North Liberty, Marie Galvas of Kansas City, Brian (Debra) Galvas of La Porte, & Diane (Scott Savely) Galvas of Mishawaka; grandchildren, Kari (Jeffery) Crusius, Robert (Giselle) Nemeth, Joel (Lisa) Galvas, Landon (Jennifer Kray) Galvas; step-grandchildren, Adam (Jamie) Meehan, Ryan Meehan, & Carol (David) Stacy; great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Crusius, Christopher Crusius, Lucas Nemeth, Isabella Galvas, Serena Galvas, step great grandchildren; Aislyn Meehan, Abigale Meehan, Phinley Meehan, Isabella Stacy, Angella Stacy, & Wyatt Stacy; brothers, Floyd Galvas of San Jose, CA, James Galvas of South Bend; and sister, Joan Wukovits of South Bend. Bob honorably served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. He was a parishioner of St. Adalbert Catholic Church and a former usher of St. Stanislaus Koska Terre Coupee. Bob was a member of the American Legion Post 50 and was a founding member of the Crumstown Conservation Club. He enjoyed woodworking, cooking, gardening and traveling with his family. Bob had worked at Studebaker, Radio Equipment Company, J. E. Waltz and Bendix. Visitation for Bob will be 2 to 8 pm, Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. where a Rosary will be prayed at 4 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be will be celebrated at 10 am Wed., Dec. 11, 2013 in the St. Adalbert Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St Joseph Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Center for Hospice Care, 111 Sunnybrook Ct., South Bend, IN 46637 or to St. Adalbert Church 2505 W. Grace St., South Bend, IN 46619.
