Susan Elaine Kowalski, 72, of Osceola passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, in her home surrounded by her loving family. Sue was born in Mishawaka, IN to the late Robert & Shirley (Pittman) Selner. On May 5, 1979, she married Thomas M. Kowalski who survives. Also surviving are her children, Justin R. Kowalski and Frances A. Kowalski; sisters, Linda Martin and Cindy (Gene) Michael; and brothers, Tom (Sharon) Selner and Bruce (DJ) Selner. She is preceded in death by a sister, Penny Selner. Sue attended Indiana University South Bend while working full time at Aetna Insurance. She worked as the secretary to the President of Tidy Cat for 19 years until they were bought out by Ralston Purina. She then went on to work for Franciscan Alliance and retired from there after 18 years. When she wasn’t working Tom and her loved to camp and travel. They completed the adventure to all 50 states with an Alaskan cruise in 2015. Sue was in her element volunteering to help or organize-be it a Cub Scout den mother, Campfire leader, assistant Girl Scout leader, or Special Olympics volunteer. She loved planning family get togethers, cousins weekends, and helping out with the reunion committee for Plymouth High School. “Susie” was the family memory keeper and always had stories to share. Visitation will be 2-4pm Saturday, September 24, 2022, Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, IN. A service will follow at 4pm. Susan will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in Mishawaka.
