SOUTH BEND - Imre Modos, 80, passed away May 7, 2017 in Memorial Hospital, with family by his side. Imre was born October 8, 1936 in Himod, Hungary to the late Daniel and Anna (Kocsis) Modos. A daughter, Candace Bella; and brother, Ernest Modos, also preceded him in death. He immigrated to America at the age of 16. He took a job at the University of Notre Dame where he met his wife, Doris (Murray) Modos. She preceded him in death in 2002. Left to cherish his memory are six children, Eric (Corky) of Granger, Mark of South Bend, Scott of Fort Myers, FL, Starr (Terry) of Rolling Prairie, Todd of South Bend and Mira (Scott) of South Bend; 17 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. Imre owned and operated Emry's restaurant in Buchanan, MI for 30 years. He then took a job as a security officer with Magnum Security Company where he worked for the last 17 years at the South Bend Medical Foundation. He was a hard worker who provided well for his family. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; loved Notre Dame, and kept a meticulous yard. He had a great sense of humor and will be dearly missed. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 11 from 10-11:30 a.m., followed by a brief memorial service at 11:30 a.m., at the McGann Hay, Granger Chapel, 13260 SR 23, Granger, IN, enter off Cherry Rd.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association .
