NORTH LIBERTY - Gerald “Jerry” Lee Knowlton, 77 years old, passed away at 2:45 p.m. on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at his home. Jerry was born on February 9, 1940 in St. Joseph County, IN to the late Harold Ross and Pauline Marie (Kelver) Knowlton. He was a lifelong resident of the Walkerton and North Liberty communities. On June 12, 1960, Jerry and Nancy Jo Bulla were united in marriage at the North Liberty United Methodist Church.Along with his loving wife of 56 years, Nancy, survivors include their four daughters, Janet (Stephen) Maxwell of New Palestine, Jill (Gene) Davis of North Liberty, Joni (Ron) Baker of New Castle, and Julie (Keith) Dinn of Bunker Hill; eleven grandchildren, Spenser and Adrienne Maxwell, Alyssa (Ricky) Curtis, Austin (Brittany) Davis, Addison Davis, Marie (Mitch) Gilb, Courtney, Emily and Stephanie Baker, Kyle and Kirsten Dinn; four great-grandchildren, Abrie, Jaxson, Lincoln, and Paul; two sisters, Sharon (Ray) Halsey of Tyner and Kathy (Carl) Delaney of Lafayette; and one brother, Gene (Diane) Knowlton of North Liberty. His brother, David Knowlton, preceded him in death. Jerry retired in 2000 from Ashland Chemical after 38 years of employment. He then worked for Farm Fertilizer for 10 years. He was a 1958 graduate from Walkerton High School, a lifelong Cubs fan, and enjoyed watching sports, racing and visiting the casino. He also enjoyed mushroom hunting and farming. Jerry was a member of the North Liberty United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at the North Liberty United Methodist Church, 103 S. Main Street, North Liberty, IN. Rev. Trenton Prieshoff and Rev. Tim Davis will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Eastlawn Cemetery, North Liberty. Friends may visit with the family from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21st, at the Palmer Funeral Home, 202 N. Main Street, North Liberty and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Contributions in memory of Gerald “Jerry” Knowlton may be donated to Alzheimer's Services, 922 E. Colfax Avenue, South Bend, IN 46617; or to Heartland Hospice, 230 W.
