Stanley Uryga, 90, passed away Monday, April 10, at Goshen Hospital. He was born June 6, 1926, in Wojekowa, Poland, to Boleslaw and Maria (Mleczko) Uryga. On Nov. 11, 1950, he married Dorothy Lockyer in Lichfield, England. She died Oct. 20, 2015. Survivors include three children, James (Sally) Uryga, Cincinnati, Ohio, John (Brenda) Uryga, Elkhart, and Julie (Jack) Senger, Millersburg; a daughter-in-law, Karen (Bill) Couch, Covington, Georgia; 15 grandchildren, Megan Uryga, Christopher Uryga, Jaime Holmes, Jillian Dail, Christopher Buzas, Lindsey Ferreira, Tommy Couch, Sara Uryga, Ashley Uryga, Annie Couch, Jamie Farrell-Senger, Andrew Buzas, Victoria Anderkin, Jarrett Senger and Jenna Senger; 14 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Maria, Louise and Sophia, all of Poland; a brother, Albert Uryga, Livonia, Michigan; and a sister-in-law, Mary (Bob) Harvey, England. Also surviving are special friends, Jacque Hagerty, Union, Michigan, Mark Buczek, Farmington Hills, Michigan, Ray and Mabel Miller, Goshen, Father Tony of St. John's and Father Fernando of St. Dominic Catholic Church, Bremen. An area resident since 1975, Stanley was part owner of Sailor Manufacturing, Elkhart. He was a member of St. John's and the Knights of Columbus.Stanley enjoyed auctions, playing canasta, spending time with his family and his church and his dog, Suki. He never met a stranger and will be missed by all.Friends may call Wednesday, April 12, from 9 a.m. until the 10 a.m. funeral mass at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Goshen. Father Tony Steinacker will officiate. The family requests no flowers in respect for Holy Week. Memorial contributions may be made to Elkhart County Down Syndrome Support Group, PO Box 1224, Goshen, IN 46527 or Boy Scouts Troop 12, New Paris.
