SOUTH BEND - Gertrude Rita Wolkiewicz, 91, passed away at 9:07 pm, Saturday, October 12, 2013 in her home. Gertrude was born June 21, 1922 in South Bend to the late Leo and Anastasia Mrozinski. On August 17, 1946 in South Bend, Gertrude married Casmier, who preceded her in death. Gertrude is also preceded in death by a son, Gary Allen Wolkiewicz; and sisters, Irene Rozewicz, and Evelyn Borowski. Survivors include son, Daniel (Vickie) Wolkiewicz of South Bend, IN; brother, Richard (Margaret) Mrozinski of Mishawaka, IN; grandchildren, Kristy Wolkiewicz, Daniel (Elaina) Wolkiewicz, Jim (Lori) Adams and John Adams; six great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Gertrude was a charter member of St. Johns the Baptist Catholic Church and member of their first choir and St. Johns Rosary Society. She was also a 30 year member of St. Adalbert's choir. She also belonged to the Polka Singers. Visitation for Gertrude will be 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Tuesday, October 15, 2013 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., where a Rosary will be prayed. A Funeral Ceremony will be celebrated at 10:00 am Wednesday, October 16, 2013 in the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
