GRANGER - August M. Armentrout, 74, of Filbert Road, died at 9:45 p.m. Thursday in his home after an illness. Mr. Armentrout retired in 1982 from Bendix Corp., South Bend, after 34 years of service. He was born Aug. 4, 1920, in LaPorte County. On July 21, 1945, in Rensselaer, he married Mildred T. Dembinski. She survives with a daughter, Beverly A. Hanks of Mishawaka; two sons, Drew A. of Fort Worth, Texas, and Gary of Granger; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Pansy McCollough of Knox. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3402 Lincoln Way W., South Bend, where a wake will take place at 4 p.m. Sunday. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County Inc.
