Mrs. Georgia Kostakis, 69, of Mishawaka, Ind., formerly of Kalamazoo, Mich., passed away early Sunday morning, May 16, in the Fountain View Retirement Village, Mishawaka.
Mrs. Kostakis was born in Achladochambos, Greece on Aug. 23, 1929, the daughter of Constantine and Stamatina Stiris, and came to Kalamazoo in 1951. She was a member of Annunciation Great Orthodox Church of Kalamazoo and the Philoptochos Society. Georgia was employed in food service at the Upjohn Company, retiring in 1994. On May 6, 1951, she married James Kostakis, who preceded her in death on Aug. 4, 1988. She was also preceded in death by her brother, George Stiris. She is survived by her daughter, and son-in-law, Mimi and Joe Paine of Granger, Ind.; her grandson, Nicholas Paine; her brother, Pete Stiris; three sisters, Barbara Phassos and Lea Droulias, all of the Chicago area, and Katina Katrakis of Athens, Greece; and by several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday morning (Michigan time0 at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 507 S. Westnedge, Kalamazoo, with Rev. Fr. James Karalexis officiating. Interment in Riverside Cemetery. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. (Michigan time) today at the Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home, 917 S.
