Ervin J. Pejza, 85, of South Bend, passed away at 2:55 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2006, in Saint Joseph Care Center, South Bend. Ervin was born on March 20, 1921, in South Bend, to Bert and Catherine (Piechowicz) Pejza. His parents have preceded him in death. A son, Larry, died in the year 2000, and a brother, Eugene, who passed in 2004. On September 30, 1944, he married Sophie Wieczorek, who survives, along with their daughters, Ann (Tony) Leiler of Mishawaka and Jane (Mike) Beitzinger of Granger; son, Paul (Michele) Pejza of Canton, Michigan; seven grandchildren, Alyssa, Brian and Nicole Beitzinger, Dawn Silva, Abigail Bzdyl, Jamie and Corey Pejza; three great-grandchildren, Brandon, Cody and Ashley; a sister, Dolores O'Brien of Cincinnati, Ohio; and a brother, Norbert of South Bend. Ervin served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII and was discharged in 1946. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, PNA #83, American Legion Post 357 and the Mruks Club. He retired as a supervisor from Torrington in 1985 after 22 years of service. Visitation will be on Monday, March 27, 2006, from 2 to 8 p.m. in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. MAYFLOWER ROAD, SOUTH BEND. A Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, March 28, at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Catholic Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 2410 N. Grape Road, Mishawaka, IN 46544.
