John Rzeszewski "J.R."
Dec. 5, 1934 - Oct. 17, 2009
SOUTH BEND - John V. "J.R." Rzeszewski, 74, of South Bend, IN, passed away October 17, 2009. A lifetime resident of South Bend, he was born December 5, 1934, to the late John and Lillian Rzeszewski. On July 9, 1960, he married Jeannette L. Lauer, who preceded him in death on January 11, 2007. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Lillian J., and brother, Thomas T. Rzeszewski. Mr. Rzeszewski served in the Armed Forces. He is survived by two sons, John C. (Patricia) Rzeszewski and Richard J. Rzeszewski (K. Mikel); a sister, Loretta Klota; sister-in-law, Marilyn Rzeszewski; and three grandchildren, Nathan, Jonathan and Jacob Rzeszewski, all of South Bend. John graduated from St. Joseph's Catholic High School. Throughout his life, John worked at The Studebaker Corporation, South Bend Lathe, Long Term Care Pharmacy, and the State of Indiana DOT (Plymouth). John grew up in South Bend and was a lifelong resident of St. Joseph County. He was a very hard-working father, sometimes holding as many as two or three jobs at a time, if necessary, to provide for his family. John loved his family and especially his grandsons; he'll be remembered for his unique sense of humor and gift of conversation. His favorite hobby was collecting. He was a member of the Crumstown Conservation Club where he enjoyed playing Euchre on Thursdays. He was also a member and Eucharistic Minister at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. A memorial Mass will be held on Friday, October 30, 2009, in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church at noon by Fr. Bradley Metz. Memorial contributions may be made to the Crumstown Conservation Club
