SOUTH BEND - Joseph F. Banach, 82, of East Monroe Street, died of natural causes at 10:42 a.m. Thursday in his home. Mr. Banach retired in 1977 from United Conveyor Corp. as plant manager and was a former employee of Oliver Corp. He was born May 24, 1912, in South Bend and was a lifelong area resident. In 1931, in South Bend, he married Ann H. Tubicsak. She died May 8, 1993. He is survived by two daughters, Jacqueline Stornetta of Santa Maria, Calif., and Peggy Lyzun of South Bend; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Helen Janicki of South Bend and Jane James of Hazelcrest, Ill. He was a veteran of the Navy and was a member of American Foundryman Society and St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the church. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today in Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 435 S. Ironwood Drive. Memorial contributions may be made to any charity.
