Edward P. Knoll, 92, Michigan City, died at 1:15 p.m. Friday (July 4, 1997) at St. Anthony Hospital. A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Catholic Church. His son, the Rev. Jerome Knoll, will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel. The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Mr. Knoll was born Aug. 23, 1904, in Michigan City, the son of Andrew and Mary Boehnlein Knoll. On June 15, 1932, in Michigan City, he married Catherine "Kate" Cashbaugh, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Marlene (Sherman) Evans, and Mary Kay (Dean) Hawley, all of Golden, Colo.; two sons, The Rev. Jerome Knoll, C.S.C., Notre Dame, Ind., and Ronald (Ruth) Knoll, LaPorte; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters. Mr. Knoll was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, and Knights of Columbus, LaPorte Council. He worked for 25 years as a meter repairman for the Michigan City Water Department. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church.
