Eva Bodnar
7/27/25-10/25/21
Eva was born in Budapest Hungary July 27th, 1925. In 1956, with her young son and husband Gustav, they escaped from communist Russia controlled Hungary to a loving family and community in South Bend, In., eventually settling in Niles, Mi. In 1974 Eva and her husband bought a small apartment complex on Siesta Key, Sarasota, Fl. and managed it with blood sweat, tears and laughter for nearly 20 years. Gustav passed away in 2002 and Eva stayed in Sarasota until 2016, when she moved to St. Joseph, Mi. to be close to her son and his family. Eva was a very positive and cheerful person and made many close friends in her new home. She lived by her motto “Have Faith and Smile” and had a strong faith in God. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Surviving is her son Andy, his wife Chris and their daughter Nikki. A service to celebrate Eva’s life will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday Nov. 3rd, 2021 at the Fairplain Presbyterian Church, Benton Harbor, Mi. with a luncheon to follow. Contributions, if desired, can be made to the Fairplain Presbyterian Church 210 W. Napier Ave. Benton Harbor, Mi. 49022
