SOUTH BEND - Raymond J. Sieradzki, 87, passed away peacefully June 10, 2012. Born April 28, 1925, he was the son of the late Joseph and Eleanor (Sroda) Sieradzki. On September 2, 1950, Raymond married Theresa Lovas. She preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Leonard and sister, Rita Sieradzki. Survivors include two daughters, Renee (Robert) Kosanovich of South Bend and Lori (Frank) Ermeti of Mishawaka; five grandchildren, Joel (Monica), Matthew (Bryn) and Joshua Fletcher and Josh and Ben Kosanovich; five great-grandchildren, Andrew, Anna, Ava, Ethan and Brody; two sisters, Geraldine Goethals of Jackson, TN and Barbara (Dennis) Isaacs of St. Louis, MS; and two brothers, Richard Sieradzki of Granger and Robert (Katherine) Sieradzki of Granger. Ray was a loving husband, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa to all of his family. His selfless love to his family will never be forgotten. He proudly served in the US Army during WW II. He was in the 115th Infantry Regiment, the 29th division, in Operation Overlord at Omaha Beach, Normandy, France, D-Day, June 6, 1944. He was a medic on the front lines in Germany. Upon returning to the United States, he was employed by Studebaker Corporation. He then worked as a South Bend Firefighter as a chauffeur before retiring in 1985 after 34 years of service. He was a longtime member of St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church, where he served as an usher for over thirty years. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8 PM at the McGann Hay, University Chapel, 2313 E. Edison Rd., with the Rosary being prayed at 4:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 10 AM, with visitation one hour prior, at St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park.
