Frances Virginia Blaszak, age 94, of Willis, MI, formerly of Belleville, MI, passed away on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Fostered Hearts, AFC in Milan. She was born on April 12, 1918 in Riverview, MI, daughter of Edward and Mary (Corevits) Reno. Frances is survived by her children: Jerome (Mary Ann) Blaszak, Willis, MI, Brother James Blaszak C.S.C., of the Congregation of the Holy Cross, Cascade, CO, and Maria Blaszak Lehto, Fairborn, OH. She is also survived by four loving grandsons: Shane (Jamie) Lehto, John (Shelley) Blaszak, Andrew (Becky) Blaszak, all of Willis, MI, and Brian Lehto of Vancouver, B.C., also great-grandsons: Ryan Lehto, Lance, Garek and Cooper Blaszak, and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Virginia Frost, and her husband of 51 years, Sylvester Blaszak. Frances was a supervisor for Firestone before her marriage to Sylvester J. Blaszak on November 29, 1941. She prided herself on being both a homemaker and a farmer, and in later years, a caterer for numerous weddings and other social gatherings. Throughout the years, Frances contributed countless hours to her community, church, school, and organization projects and serving as election official for Augusta Township for several years. She was an active member of the Polish American Congress and the Polish League of American Veterans and served as Women's Vice President of PNA Lodge 2984. She was an active supporter of Camboni Missions (Verona Fathers), Monroe Catholic Central Women's Auxiliary, the Congregation of Holy Cross, 4-H, and St. Anthony Scouts. In 1982, Frances was awarded the honor and title of the Polish National Alliance Woman of the Year. She was a member of St. Anthony's Women's Guild. Frances had a deep devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Rosary. Visitation will be on Thursday 5-8 PM and Friday 2-8 PM with a 7:30 PM Rosary service at David C. Brown Funeral Home, Belleville, MI. A Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 11 AM at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 409 W. Columbia Avenue, Belleville, with Father Thomas H. Cusick as celebrant. Interment will follow at Michigan Memorial Park, Flat Rock. In lieu of flowers, donations in Frances' name may be made to St. Anthony Church, St. Anthony Boy Scout Troop or Cub Scout Pack 793, or to Arbor Hospice.
